The CBT-2 results for the RRB ALP 2024 recruitment have been released. Qualified applicants can now gear up for the CBAT exam, to be held on July 15, 2025.

10th pass with ITI (NCVT/SCVT) in relevant trade
OR Diploma/BE/B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Automobile
Age Limit: 18–33 years as on 01 July 2024

Selection Process

Step 1: CBT-1 (Computer Based Test - Stage 1)
This is the initial screening test.
Objective-type paper (Multiple Choice Questions).
Subjects Covered:
- Mathematics
- General Intelligence & Reasoning
- General Science
- General Awareness on Current Affairs
Total Questions: 75
Duration: 60 minutes
Marking: 1 mark per question; negative marking of 1/3
Nature: Qualifying only (marks not counted for final merit)
Candidates who qualify CBT-1 are shortlisted for CBT-2.
Step 2: CBT-2 (Computer Based Test - Stage 2)
This stage has two parts: Part A and Part B
🔹 Part A:
Subjects:
- Mathematics
- General Intelligence & Reasoning
- Basic Science & Engineering
- General Awareness on Current Affairs
Total Questions: 100
Duration: 90 minutes
Marking: 1 mark per question; 1/3 negative marking
Nature: Marks counted for final merit
🔹 Part B:
Trade-related questions (as per ITI/NCVT syllabus for the relevant trade)
Total Questions: 75
Duration: 60 minutes
Qualifying Marks: Minimum 35% (mandatory)
Nature: Qualifying only (not counted in final merit)
Only those who qualify both Part A and Part B are shortlisted for the next stage.
Step 3: CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test)
Applicable only for ALP post, not for Technicians
Conducted for candidates shortlisted from CBT-2
Tests the aptitude and psychometric abilities required for Loco Pilots
No negative marking
Qualifying Criteria: Candidates must score at least 42 marks in each test battery (no relaxation for any category)
Weightage in Final Merit:
- CBT-2 Part A = 70%
- CBAT = 30%
Final merit is based on combined marks of CBT-2 Part A and CBAT.
Step 4: Document Verification (DV)
Shortlisted candidates after CBAT are called for document verification.
Candidates must produce original and self-attested photocopies of:
- Educational certificates
- Proof of Date of Birth
- Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC if applicable)
- PwBD Certificate (if applicable)
- Domicile Certificate (if applicable)
- Aadhaar Card or any valid ID proof
Failure to produce valid documents may lead to disqualification.
Step 5: Medical Examination
Final stage of the selection process.
Conducted by Railway Medical Authorities.
Candidates must meet the A-1 Medical Standard, which includes:
- No color blindness
- Binocular vision
- Distance vision: 6/6 in both eyes (with or without glasses)
- Good night vision and field of vision
Only medically fit candidates are considered for final appointment.
